Meredith Parenti handles appeals and litigation before state and federal courts at every level. She has a broad range of experience across industries and subject matter. She is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has been recognized as a Top Rated Appellate Attorney by Super Lawyers every year since 2015.

Meredith enjoys being a creative and determined advocate for her clients, working hard to understand their problems and achieve their goals in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Sometimes that means an out-of-court settlement, while other times it requires taking the case all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Before starting Parenti Law with her husband Mark, Meredith worked at the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Houston and Austin, Texas, where she practiced before courts nationwide in the Commercial Litigation and Supreme Court and Appellate Practice groups.

Meredith also served as Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Texas, where she represented the State before the United States Supreme Court, the Texas Supreme Court, and federal and state courts of appeals, handling a number of significant constitutional cases.

Meredith received her J.D. with honors in 1996 from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she was editor in chief of the Maryland Law Review and a recipient of the Dean’s Award for Scholarship. Following graduation from law school, Meredith served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kenneth M. Hoyt of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

A native Houstonian, Meredith received her B.A. degree with honors in English and political science from Goucher College where she was Phi Beta Kappa and a Dean’s Scholar.

Meredith is an active member of the Houston Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section, where she currently serves as Immediate Past Chair. She is a regular speaker at continuing legal education programs on trial and appellate topics. She is a Master of the Bench in the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court and a volunteer attorney for Kids in Need of Defense. She serves on the vestry of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Houston.

Meredith spends her free time learning Italian, practicing yoga, trying to coax vegetables to life in her garden, and enjoying the great outdoors with her husband and law partner Mark, their three children, and two dogs.

On good days, lawyers win favorable outcomes for their client. On great days, they win for their clients and also change the law for the better. Meredith Parenti had a great day last Friday.
